Jess B. Yawitz, Ph.D.

Jess is chairman and chief executive officer and the chair of NISA’s Investment and Executive Committees. He has over 40 years of industry experience and is the author of two books and more than 50 published articles dealing with aspects of the fixed income markets. Jess founded NISA with Bill J. Marshall in 1994 following a reorganization of NISA’s predecessor, National Investment Services of America, Inc. (“National”). Jess joined National in 1990.

Prior to National, Jess was with Goldman, Sachs & Co. for five years where he served as a director of the Financial Strategies Group and later CIO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. He was also a chaired professor on the faculty of the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis for 14 years, which included time as the school’s John E. Simon Professor of Finance and Director of the school’s Institute of Banking and Financial Markets. Jess holds an AB, an MA, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
