Defined Contribution (DC)
NISA has been managing assets for Defined Contribution (DC) plans since the firm’s inception, providing custom solutions for the specific circumstances and unique needs of clients and their plan participants. We manage short and core duration bond portfolios, including TIPS as well as provide stable value fund management. Our focus is on seeking to deliver results for clients that meet participant objectives.
NISA’s stable value solutions provide client-specific designs that integrate investment strategies, coupled with bank and insurance wrap contracts to help stabilize account volatility. Stable value services include managing wrapped portfolios, as well as structuring, negotiating and managing stable value wrap agreements. NISA frequently assumes a coordinator role with respect to stable value funds; working closely with plan consultants, recordkeepers, custodians and outside managers in order to facilitate the administrative duties associated with a fund offering. In addition to synthetic Guaranteed Investment Contract (GIC) wrap implementation, NISA can incorporate and manage a traditional GIC allocation on behalf of our clients’ stable value funds.
NISA supports plan sponsors in building and delivering income products in pursuit of better retirement outcomes to enable participants to retire with greater confidence.
Interest rate risk includes duration differences between the portfolio and liability-based benchmark. Spread or yield curve risk is the difference between performance of the portfolio and the liability-based benchmark associated with changes in credit spreads or the shape of the yield curve. Operational risk includes the calculation and execution of trades required to maintain an LDI hedging objective and requires the coordination of various groups within NISA, as well as external parties including brokers, custodians and potentially other asset managers. There could be a risk associated with incorporating data from various external sources.
Misestimation of the liability’s sensitivity to interest rates, changes to liability valuation assumptions, or differences between assumptions and experience represents potential actuarial risk.
