Dr. Mohan Balachandran is a director in the Quantitative Equity Portfolio Management Group. He leads NISA’s quantitative equity strategies overseeing the team responsible for signal research and generation, signal selection and weighting, and portfolio construction.
He returned to NISA in 2025 after departing in 2008 to join the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas where he led the successful development and launch of their Multi-Asset Strategies Group. In addition, Mohan served as a member of the Investment, Management and Asset Allocation Committees. During his previous 10-year tenure at NISA, he was jointly responsible for the daily management of the fixed income trading desk.
He holds a bachelor’s of technology degree in engineering physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, an Sc. M. and a Ph.D. in physics from Brown.
